This week we are catching up with our newlyweds Ed and Emma after their incredible Wedding in Norfolk.
Gee Brothers printed their Orders of Service, Information sheets (complete with a map of Thornham Village) and their Wedding invitations.
Emma has very kindly given us an insight into her wedding planning, alongside some advice for future couples and a few crucial tips and tricks!
Have a read below to find out more...
1) What were your favourite parts of the planning?
“When Ed and I were planning our wedding we really wanted to amalgamate all of the different parts of ourselves into the weekend. We wanted it to feel like it was truly us and what we jointly loved from start to finish. We decided to get married in Norfolk at Ed’s family's cottage which looks out onto miles of marsh and the deep blue sea. It’s a truly remarkable place that we totally adore. I am from Scotland and the Bahamas, so we had nods to these cultures throughout the wedding; from the marquee lining being covered in palm trees to the bagpipes welcoming our guests into the garden and an hour of Bahamian classics to jam to on the dance floor. Seeing these parts of ourselves merge into vibrant union was truly joyous.
We also wanted to use as many suppliers that meant something to us as possible. All of the food was catered by our all-time favourite chef - Matthew Dorich (@matthews_kitchen) - who is the best man’s stepfather and our dear friend. The photographer is another friend, Lara Arnott (@laraarnottphotography). The florist was the super talented Lucy Vail (@lucyvailfloristry) who Ed has known since he was born. I am a jewellery designer (@emmamactaggartdesigns) and so I designed all the lovely ladies' wedding earrings, Ed a surprise present of a pendant with our wedding emblem, E&E, engraved on it and of course my engagement ring.”
2) What was the inspiration behind your wedding invitations?
“I wanted to use a dark mossy green as the base of the invite to match the Norfolk marshes. I ended up designing my own E&E emblem in a slightly Celtic theme - a little nod to Scotland - which we used on the invite, order of service and to be honest as many places as I could put it. We also had a map of Thornham village painted. All of the guests stayed within walking distance from the wedding dotted around Thornham so the map actually became very handy, especially for my family who had joined up from over the pond!”
3) What is your advice to other couples getting married?
“Weddings are a LOT of work, and they aren't cheap. I am not going to lie there were numerous times I questioned myself if all the extra small personal touches we added were worth the stress, but I have to say it was hands down the best weekend of my life. From start to finish I don’t think we could have made the weekend feel any more personal to us and I honestly wouldn’t change a thing. So, if you're drowning in wedmin keep going, keep it about both of you and I promise it will all be a magical day in the end.”
Emma’s feedback: “I am thrilled with the my overall experience at Gee Brothers. Our wedding invites came out beautifully and the quality was to the highest degree. The service we received throughout the process was extremely helpful and quick. We were so happy with Gee Brothers that we are now using them to make our Order Of Service's. I highly recommend this company.”
